We are delighted to announce that the new First Secretary of Education at the Chinese Embassy in Wellington, Mr Peter WANG ShengGang, chose ICL Business School and Auckland English Academy as his first private school visits since taking up his post in Wellington.

He was accompanied by Mr Tom Gao, the Auckland Education Consul, who is relinquishing his post after five years, and Tom’s  replacement, Professor Hu YanChu.  Tom knows ICL well and was kind enough to accept our donation to the Wenchuan earthquake relief fund in May 2008.

ICL held a meeting for the dignitaries in the business school on Monday 30th August, with some 80 Chinese students currently studying at ICL and AEA.  They were introduced by Principal Ewen Mackenzie-Bowie and covered a range of topics concerning international education and student welfare and safety in New Zealand.  Tom Gao later commented on how impressed he had been with the level of interest the students demonstrated, and the quality of their questions.
